Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth Banned in Schools

How wonderful it is that there are still parents in the Judeo-Christian tradition willing to sacrifice their children to God. Like their forefather, Abraham, Federal Way School District parents, in Washington state are ready to condemn their progeny.
Abraham, as I remember from Sunday School, obeyed his God with a sense of grief. The folks just South of Seattle, on the other hand, are more than happy to righteously put faith before family. This time they will not take up a blade to do the sacrifice and this time there will be no goat to suffer in place of the child.
There is a goat available — but these parents will not accept the substitute sacrifice. The substitute comes in the form of knowledge and information and a call to action, action to change our behaviors to reduce carbon emissions in the hope of saving the planet and a sustainable way-of-life.
The folks in Federal Way are prepared to bring about a new Scopes trial, if not the Apocalypse itself, in defense of the book of Revelation, certain that the earth will be destroyed in fire, not from carbon dioxide. Where Darwin’s writing created, for some, intolerable cognitive dissonance with the book of Genesis, for these people Al Gore’s DVD is doing the same with the end of the Holy Book. One can only be grateful to have skipped the politicization of Exodus through Jude.
A few crazy parents would be one thing. That the school board gave in to their protests is quite different. The school board’s policy is that one, the superintendent of schools must approve any showing of the film, and two, that a “credible, legitimate opposing view will be presented.”
Its time to get over the idea that every controversy has equal opposing views. When did we as a society decide that ignorance must be presented as equal to information? That oil companies can pay shills to deny global warming and politicians to lend those shills legitimacy, does not create an equal or even convincing alternate position. That the planet is warming and that human activity is at least a contributing factor is supported by the best science available. The opposing view is supported only by those who profit from carbon emissions.
One might argue that the children of Federal Way are not immediately at risk and therefore the analogy with Abraham is false, unless they lived on a coastline — but then, Federal Way district is on the Puget Sound.

I think everyone should be allowed to see this film. I wish I knew where I could see it. This movie has not been in any of our theaters in the Largo area of Florida? When are we going to wake up and do something to control this?
