The Secret Government, Redux

In this 1987 PBS video, Bill Moyers begins, “The secret government is an interlocking network of official functionaries, spies, mercenaries, ex-generals, profiteers, and “super-patriots” who, for a variety of motives, operate outside the legitimate institutions of government. Presidents have turned to them when they can’t win the support of the Congress or the people, creating that unsupervised power so feared by the framers of our Constitution.”
The circumstances vary over time, but it’s scary how much 2007 looks like 1987. The new twist is now we’re allowing private contractors like Blackwater to weapon up. The problems with massive private armies operating on American soil and for hire around the globe are clear.

With Halliburton contracted to build prison camps and with the Republican Party creating private armies funded by American taxpayer monies I think their is cause for concern. With the creation of a sovietfascist government the brown shirts and Blackwater shirts are realities. Private armies have no restrictions, the Constitution only provides, in theory, protection against Government not privatized government. Anyone that thinks these are not ominous signs are ignorant, gullible fools who the politicians know they can fool because they have been fooling them with the help of the churchianity religionists and their congregations of fools which are the gathering places of Satan whose preachers are the harlots of the bible , their false doctrines[ie:the rapture;left behind]are fornications of the Bible.
Why do you think Bush is destroying our military with the extension of tour of duty , The lack of rest between their tours of duty. The sending of just about all of our National Guards and their equipment overseas. This leaves this country wide open for a private , religious , conservative , republican , mercenary army , that answers to none of our laws and no one in this country except Bush, Cheney and the religious conservative republican that owns them….
Anyone that would trust a damn word or a policies that Bush or anyone in this administration says or does is an idiot , and deserves what they receive , but the rest of our citizens do not…
The constitution is crying out for our Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney for their arrogant lies , deceit , destruction of our constitution and military. They complete take over of our democracy , freedom , rights , honor and laws of our land and world. If these two are not impeached then impeachment and the constitution is just what Bush told Cheney about it. The constitution is nothing but a G. D. piece of paper and he will do as he damn well please….
The “Secret Government” is hardly new–it dates back to our early history. The most compelling report which names names appeared in 1947, “One Thousand Americans,” by George Seldes. It is based in part on Congressional hearing in 1945 and 1946 which “exposed” how a small group of Americans controlled the US economic and political infrastructure from the 1930s through WWII. Corporate control of the media, control of the Pentagon and key Congresspersons through a network of interconnected corporations–it is ominously similar to the situation today. Although the “secret government” has not always succeeded in pushing their agenda, under Bush I and Bush II they are closer than at any time since FDR. The Seldes book is long out of print, but your local library may have a copy.
